What can a scaffold hoist be used for?
Anything that would otherwise be carried up the scaffold by hand. Roofers use them for tiles, slats, battens, and leadwork. Refurbishment crews lift bricks, blocks, mortar, and plaster. On strip outs, the flow runs the other way, with waste lowered into a skip. The common thread is repeated lifting, where a hoist quickly pays for itself in both time and safety.
How much can a scaffolding hoist lift?
It depends on the unit. Our hoists are specified against the loads on your job, and the safe working load is marked on the equipment and confirmed at handover. That figure must never be exceeded, and it applies to the whole load, including any bucket or bag. Tell us the heaviest item you expect to move, and we will supply a unit rated comfortably above it.
Do you fit the hoist to the scaffold?
Yes. The hoist is rigged by our scaffolders onto brackets fixed into the structure, with any additional ties added first. We do not drop units off for trades to mount themselves, because a hoist fixed to a scaffold that was not designed to carry it is a genuine hazard. Rigging, briefing, and de-rigging are all part of the hire.
Does a scaffold hoist need to be inspected?
Yes. A hoist is lifting equipment, so it requires thorough examination at set intervals, and the records must be available on site. Our units come with current documentation and are checked when rigged and throughout the hire period. The scaffold itself is inspected at least every 7 days, and the hoist mounting is included in that inspection.
